once upon a thyme in Gurgaon

Pour me another stiff one
And I’ll tell you of the night
When travelling all the wrong turns
I stumbled by that right

K told me of soulful living
Realized with mountain herbs some salt
He had set up shop in the city
He had called me for a halt

And thus charged our engines
The Ola rider and I
A crowd of three for two hours
Along with the fast crumbling twilight

Then I waited as K handled logistics
And you mishandled the stage
I noticed you the first time
I’m still reading that page

The cigarette split in the corner
The Ladakhi joint by the bend
The ‘I too worked in Bangalore,
I lived there with a friend.’

The table by the cooler
The beers under the flags
The roads buzzing with the people
The people buzzing with the drags

He said it was the best time
The best we would ever have
You spoke about your music
All love-and-dreams-on-the-nav

And there I saw it rolling
The sexy six on the dice
The cold shoulder of the bottle
The hot want of the eyes

You said you living your passion
You aim to live it well
I was tripping on my Chocobar
I heard the tolling bell

At work the next crushed morning
My empty shelf of a head
I laboured with my pencil
Everything had been already said.
